The Road Ahead.

PictureNew Haven and beyond.

I've already admitted on the AHA podcast that I'm ready for a change. If you happened to be listening that day, you know that I'm actually doing it.
Making The Change.

This summer, I'll be leaving my full-time job (which I enjoy and from which I get tremendous personal satisfaction) to do something I probably have no business doing, which is painting and teaching and blogging.
There, that makes sense, doesn't it?

The way I see it is like this:
If not now, when?

I'm a lucky lady who has a family that is quite supportive. That may turn out to be a bit more literal than intended, but knowing that they are behind me makes the leap a lot easier to take. As I mentioned on AHA, the decision came to me as I drove from Boston to NYC one morning. I thought about "my story" and I wanted it to be more than it was. That's what happens when you are on the road for three hours, driving to see your beautiful grandchild and pondering the future and all the possibilities it holds.

As for the road that lies ahead, see the photo above. It was taken from Rt. 95N this weekend, driving through New Haven, Connecticut. From here you look past the tanks of fuel, the tall vertical cranes and that tiny glimpse of blue waters. You look beyond it all to see those magnificent clouds.

I want to paint that.
Margaret

Thanks for the encouragement, Kaethe!
I'll be looking to folks (like you) for direction.

Great move! I realize it's a difficult decision, but you have obviously thought this through, and you will succeed! (And be happier for the experience!) And as Kaethe so succinctly said above: YOU GO, GIRL! (Love you on AHA--and Leslie, too!)

Karin, thank you.
I can't tell you how tough it has been, but now that the decision has been made, i am more than ready for it.
As for AHA, it is one of the highlights of my week- so glad to hear you enjoy it.

Margaret, this is such wonderful news and SO exciting! So happy that you are taking the plunge -- you will never regret it, I am sure. And so wonderful that your family is supportive in all ways. I am beyond happy for you!

Margaret,

I've been listening to AHA for a while now while I paint. While I missed the announcement, I did hear the last podcast and learned of your commitment. I made the commitment this year to spend more studio time painting, balancing it with my consulting work. Financially I can't take the leap just yet like you but hope to be on the right road to do so in the future. I will be one of those that will be learning and listening as you take your new career on. Best of luck.

Margaret I am having the same thoughts. The money part is the only think holding me back! Best wishes to you. Let me know your progress!

Nancy-
I waited until if had some solid sales... Then jumped! (To be perfectly honest, I've been a miser, saving every penny for the past 6 months.)
I'll be blogging all about the Do's and Don'ts. Start thinking about how you can make the transition if that's what you really, really want!

Susan-
I promise to share the good, the bad, and the ugly. Mostly, I hope I'll have lots of good to share!
Have you thought about a timeline? That helped me a lot.
Best,
Margaret

Kim-
I am not worthy!
I may be crazy to do this, but truthfully, I feel incredibly energized. It's like having a birthday, every day.
Thank you for your encouragement- it means so much to me.
