My Kind of Nocturnal Painting.

Today is special. My birthday gift to myself arrived in one of those lovely cardboard boxes I find on my porch just hours after I place an order with Amazon. This one is super special because I know the author, as in she herself has actually responded directly to an email I sent her last February. My girl, the one an only P Dub, has written a new cookbook, and I have it right here in my hands. Bliss.

When I first read of the Pioneer Woman, I (wrongly) imagined some sort of fundamentalist, liven' off the land kind of girl who had a reality TV show on TLC. She is, in truth,  a coffee drinking foodie with a passion for nature, dogs, her family, her ranch,  and her cowboys. It's probably time to confess that as a young girl growing up in NYC, I would wake up very early and watch the farm report on television. Mostly because that was all I could find in the dark at 5am, but I think some of that rubbed off on me, don't you agree? P Dub and I have a  lot in common.

I digress. My book, well PW's book, is here and I plan on reading it today. Mentally I will prepare and serve every meal in it. And I will feel like the PW herself has sent this to me, directly from her kitchen. It might be from the kitchen in her house, or the one in The Lodge, I'm not sure about that. My wish is that her book reads as well as her blog- because she is a blog genius. With over 23 million visitors a month, most of you probably know that.
If you don't, then go now- and tell Ree I sent you. We're friends.

Oh, the nocturnal!
Well it isn't a night scene, and it's far from finished, but late last night (that doesn't really count, does it?) while the Mets were doing their thing, I laid down the basic idea for this painting. It's To Be Continued, but I haven't been posting much in the way of paintings recently, so it seems timely to do so.
