As of Thursday, there were 750 artists signed up to participate in the latest "30 Paintings in 30 Days" Challenge.
The whole idea was born in the never-resting mind of Leslie Saeta a few years ago, and it's the best motivational tool I know of. That said, I am so relieved to find out that there are 31 days in August. I need one more day to organize my thoughts and get psyched up for the next four weeks. Because when you work full time and paint at night for 30 days, there needs to be some pretty serious prep ahead of time. My theme is guilt. The good kind, mostly. The guilty pleasures, the daily tasks that are required yet undone in the course of life. The things or actions or memories that involve a little bit of remorse. Or not. I'm not trying to get heavy here, friends. Just thinking that the feeling of guilt is pretty unavoidable for most of us, and often it can be resolved with a bit of humor, or the stroke of a brush. I'm going to place an additional restriction on myself during this challenge. I am going to set a timer, and spend exactly one hour, i.e. a measly 60 minutes, to do the painting. Paintings will be posted, and I am asking for your feedback! Buckle up- if nothing else, it's going to be an interesting month. Margaret

I clicked on your painting because, out of the 140 paintings posted on Leslies blog, it caught my eye the most. Then, after reading a couple of blog posts, I realize I am reading about my very favorite AHA co-host! How exciting! So happy to have found you. You really are a fabulous co-host and this is a beautiful painting!
