This orchid arrived about 8 weeks ago. It was sent by our friends, in condolence when my mother-in-law passed away. There's something pretty wonderful about a gift like this one- it's so delicate, pretty, and doesn't fade after a few days. But like life, we all know it won't last forever. It sits on a barn-wood table in our kitchen, where we and our children can enjoy it every morning. Everyone knows it's important not to overwater it; orchids are sensitive, and the temptation to do one's part to keep it going can be overwhelming at times. I keep the water can hidden away. I'd like to do my part to nurture and sustain it's blooms for however long it decides to stay. And perhaps paint it one more time.
